Christmas Sewing and Giveaway

So, if you have followed this blog for a few years, you’ve seen the massive quantities of gifts that I have made in the previous years…bags, mittens, notepad covers. But this year I think I bought too many items and only made a few aprons and really don’t need to give that many. I don’t know why.

Of course they are made from only fabrics that I had in my stash. And as you can see, I have a lot of Jane Sassaman fabric!  I was a fan from the very first collection, way before we published her book!

I got the apron pattern on the web as a free tutorial here.

I think the right one looks very Christmas colors and pattern but you can wear it year round.  I hope my friends like these.

GIVEAWAY…There is a new magazine called FiberArt Now which is very high quality in images and content and my new favorite textile arts magazine and I have one to give away. It would also make a great gift for your favorite quilter/sewer!!  Comment below on what you think I should make in mass quantities for next year’s gifts. I could use the suggestions!

If I don’t post soon….HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!  LOOK FOR THE START OF OUR EXCITING CONTEST ON JAN. 2!!

  1. My two quilty quick gifts are fabric ornaments - they have patterns for cool folded ones andddd book markers - you can make them out of scraps and use them to tryout new palettes and possible compositions for bigger projects.

  2. Wow that's a tough question on 12/17. I have fun making mug rugs this year. I made them in pairs when I had spare time. I think they will be well received. I would love a copy of that new magazine!!!

  3. I've made some casserole carriers that have been a big hit. Placemats with matching napkins are a quick and easy project for gift giving, too. Merry Christmas!

  4. That is a good question, since it would depend on who you are giving them to.
I made eyeglass cases for some of my friends, also ipad or phone cases are nice and you can customize them for the person's likes.

  7. Handmade journals or sketchbooks are always a nice gift. Your aprons are great! I've not seen the FiberArt Now publication in person, but have been curious about it. Maybe I can have the chance to check it out if I win it here. Thanks for the chance and Merry Christmas to you!

  8. Terri stole my idea ;-) I was thinking some kind of journal or book cover. I've also done holiday themed fabric postcards. Doesn't make that much of a dent in your stash, but I think people enjoy getting them.

  9. Do you knit or crochet? How about fingerless gloves? Small, quick and perfect for the season! Happy holidays!

  11. Stitched Christmas cards. They could later be framed as little pieces of art, or you could gift them already framed. If you make them based on the seasons, and not screaming red and green, they could be left out year round too. This way every time the person looked at it, they could think of you.

Hope I win the magazine. I haven't seen this one yet, and Merry Christmas. Diane
